Children's Church

We warmly invite all families with young children to join for Children's Church today (Sunday 6th October) as we look at the story of the cross. Refreshments and colouring-in are provided following this service which starts at 4.30pm in the church hall.

Youth Fellowship

All young people and especially those visiting with us over the weekend are warmly invited to come along to the hall after the evening service tonight (Sunday 6th October) when there will be a chance to put your questions (anonymously!) to our visiting minister, Rev Colin Macleod and perhaps find out a little bit more about his own ministry. Supper will be provided and all are welcome to join us. The evening will finish around 9.30pm.

Sunday Schools

Sunday Schools are finished for the October holidays and will meet again on Sunday 27th October.

Little Lambs Toddler Group

Little Lambs will meet again on Wednesday 30th October, after the school holidays.

Ordination and Induction

The ordination and induction of Rev. Thomas Penman to the South Uist and Benbecula congregation will be held on Tuesday 8th October at 6.00pm - Rev James Maciver will preach and preside.   The service and the following reception will be held at the Balivanich Hall. Anyone wishing to attend the event should note that the closest ferry departure from Leverburgh on Tuesday is at 2.45pm. The earliest returning ferry from Berneray the following day leaves at 7.15am.  The next one leaves at 10.25am and at approximately three hourly intervals throughout the day. We commend Rev. Penman, his wife Mhairi and his daughter Deborah (aged 2) to the prayers of our congregations as they settle into the area and look forward to beginning their ministry.

European Mission Fellowship

A meeting will be held in the APC church, Keith Street, on Friday 11th October, at 7.30pm. Jan Habl will speak on the work of EMF in Europe, particularly in his homeland of the Czech Republic. All welcome.

Dumisani Theological Institute 40th Anniversary

On Friday 18th October at 7.30pm, there will be special meeting in the Rev M A Macleod Memorial Hall, Kenneth Street, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Dumisani Theological Institute & Bible School in Southern Africa. The speaker will be Dr Jack C Whytock, Visiting Principal at the institute and his theme will be ‘The Vital Importance of the Bible School Movement in Missions’. A book marking the anniversary Voices of Thanksgiving will be available on the evening.

Dumisani is the official theological training institute of the Free Church in Southern Africa. Although the church there became independent in 1982, its origins and history is firmly rooted in the endeavors of Free Church of Scotland missionaries and it continues to have strong partnership links with the Free Church of Scotland. The Free Church in the Western Isles has always maintained a supportive interest in the missionary movement in Southern Africa. We trust that this interest will be reflected with a good attendance on the evening. Tea and coffee will be served afterwards.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3 v16
